Excitement is in the air at Bay City Central. Not
that the program has really been down, having only 2
losing seasons in the past 15 years, but ever since
1994's runner up team at the state finals the fans as
well as the players have been waiting for another big
run into the post season. This year's team has a
lot to prove in order to be mixed in with some of the
great teams of Central's past, but the talent is there.
The Wolves boast a solid passing game and an explosive
ground attack that should pace the team all season.
The team's ultimate success will ride with a young but
skilled defensive unit.
The schedule is just a tad tougher this year with
Lansing Everett on tap to play at Engel week 2.
The good news is that the Everett game along with the
Western, Midland High and Flint Central games are all at
home. The Wolves will rely on some home cooking
and a loyal fan base to give them the extra support they
need in the race for the Valley championship.
Central also has the benefit of having one of the
biggest enrollments which plays a big part in the team's
depth. There is a good chance that the conference
championship may come down to week 9, with Central
hosting conference favorite Bay City Western. |
