Midland High has always been one of those programs that
are expected to compete for the league title and beyond.
The last two years have been no different with a total
record of 19 - 3 the past two seasons. This year
they return two special backs in Parsons and Prokop, but
must replace an experienced offensive line that left
with graduation this past school year. Only one
starting offensive lineman returns in Midland's quest to
reclaim the SVL title.
Head Coach Terry Wilczek is hoping for a rapid growth
process from his young but skilled offensive unit.
The road to the title will not be kind, because it is on
the road that they face the stiffest competition against
conference powers Bay City Central and Bay City Western.
They do start the season at home against first year
Valley member Mount Pleasant. This game should
tell us a lot about the season in the conference.
We will see how Mt. Pleasant will hold up in one of the
state's most historic conferences and how good Midland's
team has progressed since day one of practice. We
expect to see a heavy dose of Parsons, but the team must
find other weapons in the process if they want to be
successful.
