Ithaca
- For more than two and
a half quarters, the Ithaca
YellowJackets just couldn't
seem to solve a tough St.
Charles defense, especially
when they traveled past
midfield. The Ithaca D
was holding its own but the
offense had yet to hold up
their end of the bargain.
That was for two and a half
quarters anyway. QB
Andy Graham then put on a
clinic. The
multi-talented Yellow Jacket
hurt St. Charles through
both the ground and the air.
Just over two minutes after
the Bulldogs went up 14-0 on
a 65 yard TD run by Travis
Marietta, the Jackets
finally answered the call on
a 9 yard pitch and catch
from Graham to WR Jacob
Cesar, cutting the lead in
half.
After keeping the Jackets
off the board for 30+
minutes, it would be the
beginning of a 21-zip run
and the end of St. Charles'
stranglehold on the contest.
Less than four minutes
later, with 4 seconds gone
in the 2nd half, the Jackets
gut the lead down to 1.
The homecoming victory that
seemed so far away just a
few minutes earlier was now
back on track.
After holding St. Charles in
check on offense again,
Ithaca put together their
championship drive.
Graham capped it off with a
14 TD run on a draw play,
even adding the 2 himself,
to put them up by 7, 21-14.
It turned out to be the game
winner as Ithaca's 2nd half
resurgence continued to
thrive until the clock read
all zeroes. |
